Charity

Each year the Club Captain and Ladies Captain raise funds throughout their year to support a charity of their choice. We are very proud to support local charities by raising money and awareness. Click the logos to visit the charity websites to learn more about the amazing work they do.

	For the 2025/26 season, our Club Captain, John Dewberry is proudly supporting Breast Cancer UK, a cause very close to his heart. Our Ladies Captain, Emma Kight, is equally passionate in her support of Peaches Womb Cancer Trust, a charity that holds deep significance. 	In 2024/25 the Club Captain Robin Buxton and Ladies Sheila Langley chose to support Cardiomyopthy UK, a charity close thier hearts.
	In 2023/24 the Club Captain Mike Williams and Ladies Lesley Captain Hewitt both chose to support special charities close to their hearts.
	In 2022/23 the charity supported was The Change Foundation, which is a charity helping young people fulfil their potential and participate fully in society through sport. A wide selection of prominent sportsmen and women give their time to support the charity in a wide range of sports for people of all ability and disability levels.
	In 2021/22 the Club Captain Lesley Hewitt and Ladies Captain Rosie Williams both chose to support special charities close to their hearts. Lesley raised £2020 for The Animal Care Trust, the registered charity of the Royal Veterinary College. For more than 30 years the Trust have been dedicated to raising funds to support the college's wide range of activities aimed at improving animal health and care. Rosie raised £2720 for Lakeside School in Welwyn Garden City. This is a community special school providing for up to 70 pupils aged 2-19 and is designated for pupils with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and Autism.
	The 2020/2021 Captains' chose to support thier Course. All funds rasied were used to install a stunning fountaion in our lake which improves the water quality and therefore the environment for local wildlife. The Captains' also used the funds to plant in excess of 250 trees on the Golf Course.
	In 2019/2020 our Captains' chose two very special charities. The first Charity was 'SPACE'. Space is a Hertfordshire based charity supporting parent/carers of Children and young people on the Autistic Spectrum, with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or a related condition. Our second Charity for the year was 'RSPCA'. Through investigations and prosecutions RSPCA stand up to those who deliberately harm animals to send out a clear message. Their highly trained officers tackle neglect and cruelty on every level working to stamp out animal cruelty. Our Captains were delighted to annouced they raised £4,000 towards both great Charities.
	In 2018/2019 the Captains Charity was 'Young Minds' who are leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. Young Minds are there to make sure young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life's difficulties. Our Captains were delighted to annouced they raised £6,600 towards this great charity.
	In 2017/2018 the Captains Charity was 'The Willow Foundation'. Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable special days. Our Captains were very happy to present a cheque for £11,500.00.
	In 2016/2017 the Captain's charity was 'Haven House'. Haven House has supported over 900 families, looking after children and young people aged from birth to 19 years old who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and our Captains were delighted to present a cheque for £10,346.61.
	In 2015/2016 the Captain's charity was 'The National Brain Appeal' which funds advances in neurology and neurosurgery. Our Captains were very happy to present a cheque for £7,275.44.
